How to read this comparison
The Bitcoin line divides the S&P 500 index level by the BTC/USD price. It is best read as a relative index-to-bitcoin ratio rather than the purchase price of a directly investable security.
For each calendar month, the latest available source observation is retained. The Bitcoin value is calculated as the nominal value of one S&P 500 index point divided by the BTC/USD close. When a source has not published a new observation, the chart carries its last available value forward until an update arrives.
